    Allekirjoittaneen tänään,26.9.2012 paikalla mittaamat ympärys- ym. mitat ovat seuraavat (korkeutta en mitannnut johtuen käydyistä keskusteluista mittaustekniikasta): run ko haarautuu kahdeksi 90 cm korkeudessa, jiolla tasalla ympärysmitta on 331,5 cm.Ohuemman haaran ympärysmitta haarautumiskohdassa on 200 cm ja paksumman, vastaavassa kohdassa 230,5 cm.Rungon tyveltä, keskikohdalta ohuemman haaran suunnassa 140 cm etäisyydellä (ei 130 cm, johtuen pois sahatun, kylestyvän oksahaavan kalluspaksunnnoksista, joten mittaus yläpuolelta)on 182,5 cm.Paksumman haaran ympärysmitta samaten 140 cm etäisyydellä haaran suunnassa on 202,5 cm.Em.kohdasta, puun tyveltä 200 cm korkeudessa tehty ympärimittaus, joka käsitti molemmat haarat, on 388 cm.

    Koska 25.09.2012 kentällä tehty määritys perustui yksinomaan lehtituntomerkkeihin (alimmat oksat ovat niin korkealla, ettei näytemateriaalia saa käyttöön ilman erityisjärjestelyjä), eikä mm. poppelitunnistuksessa olennaisia kukintonorkkoja, eikä ylempien latvusosien lehtiä ollut saatavissa, täytyy varmistusta siirtää tulevaisuuteen.
    Mielestäni on kuitenkin syytä taltioida tämän ilmoitukseni sisältö vastaista varten.Mikäli puuyksilö lopullisesti varmistuu yllä esitetyksi, totean, että se on olennaisesti paksumpi, kuin ainutkaan puu viittaamillani koealueilla.

    Kuuntelin juuri Metsäradiota, että kartoitatte ja päivitätte Niilo Karhun Vihreät jättiläiset -kirjan tietoja. Kirjassa mainitaan Nokian rautatieaseman ympärysmitaltaan 346 cm ja korkeudeltaan 26,5 metrin hopeapoppelit. (Mitattuna 25 vuotta sitten 27.8.1988.)
    Niitä puita ei enää ole. Puut kaadettiin viime talvena. Tilalle tehtiin kaksi parkkipaikkaa. Puita ei vaivauduttu tutkimaan etukäteen ja kaupunginpuutarhuri pelkäsi niiden olevan lahoja. Puiden kaadon jälkeen kannoista näki, että puut olivat aivan terveitä ja voimissaan.

  6. Kesämökkimme tontilta Tammisaaren Tenholassa ( Skallbölevägen 130 ) löytyy omenapuu,
    jonka ympärysmitta tyvestä mitattuna on oman mittaukseni mukaan 271 senttiä. Puusta osa on lahonnut ja haaroja katkaistu tai katkennut, mutta osin puu menestyy ja joinakin
    vuosina tekee runsaasti omenoita, on siis peurojen herkuttelupaikka.
